Metallic components are currently used in the assemblies of existing KH products. This is necessary in the final application to guarantee X-ray visibility.
The aim of the thesis is to research the offers on the market in order to map X-ray visibility for plastic parts in the injection molding process. These materials must then be tested for processing using a test tool in injection molding. Assemblies are to be created from these sample parts and checked for X-ray visibility. At the end of the work, a material matrix with different characteristics should be available.
Job description:
- Research on suitable materials and additives for different polymers
- Evaluation of these materials with regard to advantages and disadvantages, costs, benefits, etc.
- Planning and procurement of various materials / compounds
- Planning, implementation & evaluation of injection molding tests with existing prototype tools - checking the X-ray visibility
- Evaluation of the evaluation with regard to the use of the material in an existing assembly
- Build prototypes of an overall assembly & evaluate radiopacity
- Evaluation and documentation of the results

- Student of materials technology with focus on plastics technology
- Analytical thought process
- Structured approach
- Competence in dealing with Microsoft Office
- Team and communication skills
