A medical product provided entirely by a single partner—worldwide. KH has established itself as a contract manufacturer in the medical sector. This means that, upon request, customers receive everything from a single source—from development to packaging and logistics. This is the case with several variants of a single-use endoscope, for which KH developed the entire process and carries it out at its facilities in Helmbrechts and Chodov, Czech Republic.

KH as an established CMO / CDMO

As a long-standing partner to the medical industry, KH has steadily built up its process expertise and now offers the full range of manufacturing services expected of a CMO / CDMO.

The latest developments include: certification as a development service provider for medical devices and the establishment of a packaging centre equipped with blister and tubular bag machines at our site in Chodov, Czech Republic.

Single-Use-endoskop

01 - Camera articulation up to 275 degrees, micro-injection molding with a part weight of 0.004 grams: Twelve different components (including several two-component parts) for the single-use endoscope are produced in molds manufactured by KH. With 15 purchased parts, the assembly process is complex (Class 7 & 8 cleanrooms).

02 - During complex dental procedures, the mouth retractor assists both the dentist and the patient: It is a delicate yet sturdy device.

 

Wearable Insulin Patch Pump

03 - Film decoration via in-mold labeling (IML), targeted light guidance, two-component injection molding with a hard-soft combination. For the insulin patch pump, KH adapted its surface technologies for use in medical technology. This is complemented by the complex assembly of 13 individual components.

 

Functional components for respiratory technology

04 - The Starting Point for Overmolding Glass at KH: With this adapter, the plastic encloses the glass so tightly that no air can escape—without any soft components or adhesives in between. To achieve this, the lens is placed in a free-floating position within the mold. read more

Location KH Czechia

The KH location in Chodov, Czech Republic (only about 1.5 hours from Helmbrechts) provides valuable support for many medical projects—particularly in the areas of assembly and packaging. Like the branch in Suzhou, China, it is certified to ISO 13485.

The complex assembly of a single-use endoscope, available in a wide range of variants, takes place in the cleanroom. This involves assembling up to 12 plastic components with 15 purchased parts. Packaging takes place directly in the cleanroom, using blister packs and Tyvek pouches.

When developing components and production processes, factors specific to the materials and manufacturing methods must be taken into account. To this end, KH also draws on its experience from high-volume projects in other industries.

KH's own toolmaking department also makes it possible to design and optimize fixtures developed in-house. This saves valuable time during the project and allows for a high degree of flexibility when changes are needed on short notice.
